A proactive, integrative approach can often prevent further problems. In the case of most conditions, such as torticollis, early intervention is the key to success, preventing long term complications, and maximizing function. The PhysiTots approach is not a one size fits all. Every situation and child is unique and deserves a unique perspective and individualized treatment strategy.
A full gross motor physical therapy evaluation provided in the comfort of your home or via teleconference.
Recommendations will be provided regarding further services needed and a personalized treatment plan will be developed. Therapist will collaborate with caregivers on goals and plan of care. Evaluations will conclude with education and a home exercise program to empower you to get started right away.
Personalized plan of care will be executed based on findings from the evaluation. Parent and therapist will determine the appropriate length of session based on the child's needs. Activities and skilled techniques will vary depending on the goals of each child. Caregivers will be educated on appropriate activities/exercises to carry out between appointments.
Physical therapists play a critical role in identifying the need for orthotics. The decision to use orthotics is based on the assessment of range of motion, foot alignment, voluntary control of movement, muscle tone, and functional level of the child. After an assessment, therapist will make recommendations and provide appropriate orthotics. If your child requires a higher level of intervention, therapist will coordinate with a certified orthotist to collaborate and identify an appropriate intervention.
Kristen is a wife, mother, physical therapist and founder of PhysiTots Pediatric Physical Therapy. She has been practicing since 1999 when she graduated with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. Kristen brings a wide range of experience including acute care, pediatric intensive care units, outpatient and home health physical therapy, sports medicine, and wound care. Kristen’s passion is helping children with neuromotor impairments and motor delays achieve milestones and reach their full potential. As a mother of three, Kristen brings a unique perspective to the field. Her daughter was born four months premature and has participated in multiple therapies throughout the years. Kristen realizes the benefits of early therapeutic intervention but respects that participation in therapy can also feel overwhelming at times. Kristen’s ability to connect with both the child and the caregiver to get desired results sets her apart from others. Connecting with the child and collaboration with parents/caregivers is the key to a successful outcome.
